Cloudy Lane is a 7/1 shot (from 9/1) for the John Smith’s Grand National with Blue Square after running away with the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster.
Donald McCain jnr will now aim to emulate his father in winning the Aintree showpiece and could well go off one of the shortest-priced favourites for the Grand National in recent history.
‘Although Mr Pointment was disappointing, Cloudy Lane did everything right in the Grimthorpe Chase and all roads now lead to Aintree where he will look to emulate Red Rum and Amberleigh House in winning the Grand National for the McCains,’ said Blue Square spokesman George Primarolo.
‘He looked to have a stiff task at the weights beforehand but his second successive victory this season suggests that he goes to Aintree looking a well handicapped horse.’
Bewleys Berry is next in the market at 14/1, alongside Snowy Morning and Simon.
