Cheltenham Weather Foul Festival?

Matthew Glazier - 10 Mar 2008

With wet and windy conditions forecast for the start of Cheltenham Festival week racegoers are beting warned about potential disruption for those travelling from overseas - best of luck to all those visiting from Ireland!

An extremely deep depression will bring stormy weather across much of the British Isles on Sunday night and Monday. Gale to storm force winds will cause widespread travel disruption and there are likely to be severe delays and cancellations to both ferries and flights ahead of the Festival.

The stormy weather will ease slightly by the start of the Festival but further rain and winds will make for weather conditions which will be far from ideal, to say the least.

The going may well soften during the week with large amounts of rainfall continuing to fall through until the end of the week.
