Petit Robin will target the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham festival confirmed trainer Nicky Henderson but is still not sure who will take the ride on the talented chaser.
A creditable third last year behind Master Minded, the seven-year-old is one of 17 horses lining up for the two mile event on March 17. A well beaten second behind Twist Magic in the Victor Chandler Chase on his latest start, he had previously been seen to good effect when an impressive winner of the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton’s Christmas meeting.
“The plan is to run in the Champion Chase and not the Ryanair. The festival is still a month away and I don't want to speculate on jockeys at this stage," said Henderson.
Henderson’s charge is currently a clear 16-1 fifth favourite with William Hill for the Champion Chase, with the Paul Nicholls trained superstar Master Minded heading the market at 8-11(Paddy Power) seeking a hat-trick of wins in the Cheltenham showpiece.
As well as having the favourite, the champion trainer is strong handed in the event with the in-form Twist Magic and Free World still left in after the latest forfeit stage. Kalahari King heads the challengers to the Nicholls trio after his impressive Doncaster victory and is currently third in the betting at 13-2(William Hill).
