Cheltenham's course clerk Simon Claisse has declared that unless there is a major change in the weather forecast, there will be no more watering to the course ahead of next week's Festival, where it looks as though the good to soft going he wanted will be achieved. Claisse told Cheltenham Racing yesterday:
‘With conditions as they are, and given the forecast, no further watering is considered necessary. We are happy the way things are, and we could be as much as we are now next Tuesday.'
The news is likely to satisfy the majority of people, after some spoke out against the constant fiddling with the course going. The odds reflect the predictions for the going next week, punters can back the good to soft at 1/3 with Paddy Power, with odds rising up to 1000/1 for firm ground.
