Malcolm Jefferson has confirmed that the classy Cape Tribulation will go to the Cheltenham festival and challenge Big Buck’s for World Hurdle glory.
The staying hurdler has put up a series creditable efforts so far this season and is currently a massive 66-1 (Ladbrokes) chance for festival success. Despite the price his trainer is adamant he deserves his place in the line-up and is confident of a great run from the consistent stable star.
“He probably won't run until Cheltenham now and he has run three great races this season," said Jefferson.
"He was second at Cheltenham, fourth in the Christmas Hurdle and he was then fourth in the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock but still ran a great race.
"We're going to step him right back up in trip and go for the World Hurdle as there aren't many things we can do with him.
"He's a bigger, stronger, happier horse this year than he was last and we think he's in great form.
"I'm not going to say he's good enough to win it, but I think he's good enough to go and run a good race at Cheltenham."
