Ladbrokes are bracing themselves for the biggest day in the history of betting as Cheltenham Festival punters prepare to stake £300 million in ONE day.
This Friday's Gold Cup day will now feature NINE races - and resilient punters who missed Wednesday's action due to bad weather are expected to hit the bookies harder than ever before.
David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "It will be the biggest day in the history of betting. We fully expect it to smash Grand National records.
"Festival punters are the toughest around. They've spent the day licking their wounds and building up enormous ammunition for a massive tilt at the bookies."
Last year's Grand National at Aintree set the record when over £255 million of bets were struck with the nation's bookies - a figure now set to be dwarfed at Cheltenham.
"The Gold Cup clash between Kauto Star and Denman now assumes epic proportions. Wednesday's cancellation has only heightened expectation of the biggest racing head-to-head in years.
"It will be the busiest day in our history - and we can't wait" said Williams.
