David Pipe's Banker and Dark Horses for the Festival

Ross Aylward - 4 Mar 2009

Festival record (2007-2008): 3/52 (6%), -£33.50 level stakes loss

Banker:
Supreme Novices' Hurdle - Torpichen (6/1 bet365)
Has looked the part in winning both his starts to date and he'll be hard to beat getting the four-year-old allowance. The stable won this race with the four-year-old Hors La Loi III in 1999.

Good Chance:
Triumph Hurdle - Master Of Arts (6/1 Skybet)
Classy horse from the flat who looked a bit special on his hurdles debut at Doncaster when trouncing Copper Bleu and a very good horse of Emma Lavelle's.

Each-Way Steal:
Champion Hurdle - Osana (11/1 Sportingbet)
Battling second to Katchit in last year's Champion Hurdle and will make this a test and won't many will get past him - had finished first or second in all bar one of his runs at 2m-2m1f..

Dark Horses:
Pertemps Final - Buena Vista (16/1 Ladbrokes)
On a losing run of 12 but the handicapper has given him a chance off 133 and the drying is very much in his favour. Reported to be in "cracking form" at home.

Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle - Ronaldo Des Mottes (12/1 Stan James)
Done little wrong since coming over from France, winning two races and then finishing second at Taunton to Nictory Vote to qualify for a handicap mark. Trainer has freshened him up since and he'll be better on quicker ground.

Coral Cup - Great Endeavour (16/1 Victor Chandler)
On a fair mark (134) considering that he's unbeaten in three outings and could still be one step ahead of the handicapper as he only just does enough to win. Goes on any ground.

David Pipe Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer: 10/1 bet365

Pipe-trained Festival Winners:
Victor Chandler: One or Less 11/10, Two or Three 11/8, Four or More 4/1
